When to avoid it

When you deform a shape, the UV mapping does not deform with the lattice logically. A brick texture on a straight wall, when FFD-bent, will stretch the bricks in the middle. You will have to re-project textures using Right Click > Texture > Projected after the deformation. When to avoid it Because you are physically
